Origin and History of the Business

Fickler Oil Company was founded in 1967 by Lawrence and Frankie Fickler after they purchased Standard Oil from Frankie's father.  The business expanded in 1976 when they became a jobber and purchased their first gas station.  Then, in 1980, their son Todd became an active part of the business followed by their daughter, Tracy, in the early 90’s. Over the years, Lawrence and his family members acquired other petroleum related businesses.  In 2010, Todd became President of the company.  Tracy helps Todd with the day to day operations of the expanding company along with several key team players.

Fickler Oil continues to invest back into their infrastructure.  Both convenience stores started out as converted gas stations.  In 2003, Fic's Plaza in Deer Lodge was completely leveled.  With new tanks and a fresh design, it offered the community and travelers the only truck stop in town. Fic’s in Drummond followed suit in 2010 and is a staple of the Drummond community. In order to meet the needs of interstate travelers, in 2016 Fickler Oil opened their first Sinclair branded convenience store, Dino Mart, as well as a Subway in Deer Lodge right off of Interstate 90 exit 184.

Today, Fickler Oil operates three convenience stores, a Subway franchise, a casino, a RV park, a car wash, a tank wagon business, and a wholesale business with Conoco and Sinclair light products.  We are heavily involved in lube oils with the Chevron brand.  Our services area reaches from western Montana to the North Dakota border and south into Wyoming.  Our vision is to continue to have steady growth while keeping our current facilities and assets up to date.

Fickler Oil has a very experienced management team. Todd and Tracy have been a part of the business for the past 40 and 27 years respectively.  Other long term team members are our lube manager with 37 years, and our internal CPA/Controller with 21 years of experience.
